Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, trailer 4 actually.

It’s a shame I have to wait until January and Twilight is coming out this Wednesday. Harry Potter, is, in a nutshell, is yet another fantasy series that has helped define this generation’s youth. The series has experienced a mass cult following of millions of people around the world, fans of both the novels and the films alike.

The Harry Potter series follows the story of its eponymous protagonist and his adventures as a wizard during his school years at the Hogwarts School of WItchcraft and Wizardry. In this sixth installment, which will be released in July of next year, Harry Potter discovers an old Potions book formerly owned by an otherwise anonymous “Half-Blood Prince” and also learns more about the past of his enemy, Lord Voldemort. This film is expected to be darker than the previous five due to the dominance of dark magic in the novel. Whether or not one is an avid reader of the Harry Potter series, there is much common knowledge of what will take place in this film.

Due to the success of the five previous films, this sixth installment will be a surefire success, though its critical acclaim as a film in itself will remain a mystery until it hits theatres. I can’t wait.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is directed by David Yates, who also directed the fifth film, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. The fifth film included certain film elements that were not used by the direcotors of the first four films, Chris Columbus (1-2), Alfonso Cuarón (3) and Mike Newell (4). Yates’ world of Hogwarts is distinctly darker than the previous films, as the plot of Harry’s story gets even deeper, delving into the history of one of the darkest characters in fantasy fiction.
